Joe Cocker took the stage on the third and final day of the Woodstock music concert in upstate New York. This photo was published on Aug. 18, 1969, as “waves of weary youngsters streamed away” from the music and art fair. The photo would be published again in 2014 in Cocker’s obituary, where the Times referred to him as a “Raspy-Voice Rock Star With Distinctive Moves.”
