Puzzle Mania – Dec. 2024

Welcome to the 10th edition of Puzzle Mania, the annual section of The New York Times that should carry the motto “All the Clues Fit to Print.”

This is the ultimate gift for solvers – jam-packed with word games, visual puzzles and unique spins on our regular games.

This edition was published on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024. As this was the weekend of Thanksgiving, you may notice a light food theme running throughout. This is especially apt given that we’ve stuffed the issue with more than 50 puzzles (a record!) and a little something for everyone.

Fans of the NYT Games app can play bite-size riffs on Wordle, Spelling Bee, Connections and the Mini. Logic-puzzle lovers will delight in a page devoted to the work of the Argentine puzzle maker Rodolfo Kurchan. And of course, the annual Super Mega crossword is back: a 50×50 marvel created by Sid Sivakumar that includes an embedded contest. It’s a veritable feast of puzzles, so grab a few friends and dig in.
